01 · Overview

Laminax™ Custom Copper Foil

Since 1982, Bridgeport Magnetics has designed and manufactured premium toroidal transformers and custom magnetics for demanding applications. Our Laminax™ line of copper foil laminates, available with PET (polyester) film or high-temperature polyimide film, was developed specifically for high-performance cuffed foil shielding and electrostatic shielding in toroidal and custom-wound transformers.

Unlike most competing products that are limited to PET constructions, Laminax is especially strong in polyimide-copper laminates for elevated-temperature, high-reliability, and tightly specified designs. PET-copper laminates remain available for standard-temperature and cost-optimized windings.

Laminax delivers custom-engineered shielding laminates in cuffed, enclosed, fringed, and specialized bonding configurations that integrate cleanly into automated winding processes. These laminates provide superior dielectric strength, consistent shielding performance, and thinner builds while eliminating the long-term reliability issues associated with traditional adhesive-backed copper foil tapes.

Why Choose Laminax™ Cuffed Foil Shielding

Traditional copper foil tapes and hand cuffing often cause adhesive breakdown, uneven edge coverage, extra thickness, and problems on automated winding lines.

Laminax™ was built to fix that. Our copper foil laminates, in PET or high-temperature polyimide, provide electrostatic and grounding shields for toroidal and custom-wound transformers.

Most competing tapes are PET only. Laminax is especially strong in polyimide-copper laminates for high-heat and high-reliability designs, with PET-copper options for standard windings.

Cuffed, enclosed, fringed, and custom-bonded constructions give full edge insulation, thinner builds, and clean automated winding. Performance stays consistent without the long-term issues of pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes.

Laminax C-Series

Partially encloses a metal foil or metal strip in an insulating film which is bonded to one side of the foil while both edges are folded around the foil and bonded to the edge areas on the other side. Five different bonding configurations are available. Cuffed foil is used extensively as shields in toroidal transformers and as winding conductors in foil coils.
